Calcium Chloride dihydrate is the best agent to lower the PH value of the pond in aquaculture.
The suitable PH value for most aquatic animals in aquaculture ponds is neutral to slightly alkaline (PH 7.0~8.5). When the pH value is abnormally too high (PH≥9.5), it will lead to adverse reactions such as slow growth rate, increased feed coefficient and morbidity of aquaculture animals. Therefore, how to reduce PH value has become an important technical measure for pond water quality control, and has also become a hot research field in water quality control. Hydrochloric Acid and Acetic Acid are commonly used acid-base regulators, which can directly neutralize hydroxide ions in water to reduce PH value. Calcium Chloride precipitates hydroxide ions through calcium ions, and the resulting colloid can flocculate and precipitate some phytoplankton, slowing down the consumption of carbon dioxide by algae, thereby lowering PH.
Below is a experiment.
The experiment was a study on the effect of Hydrochloric Acid, Calcium Chloride and white Vinegar on reducing pH in 50L aquaculture pond water. Experiment was a study on the effect of hydrochloric acid, calcium chloride and white vinegar on reducing pH in 200 mL sterilized pond water. Each experiment consisted of 1 blank control group and 3 treatment groups with different concentrations, with 2 parallel groups in each group. In a sunny day, put the water needed in a sunny and ventilated place outdoors, let it sit for one night and wait for use the next day.The pH value of each group was detected before the experiment, and the pH value of each group was detected after the addition of reagent.During the experiment, weather and water itself and other factors will cause the common changes of pH migration in both the control group and the treatment group. In order to facilitate the analysis of the effect of reducing pH in the treatment group, PH value was used to represent the PH decline (△PH = PH in the control group – PH in the treatment group) in this experiment. Finally, the data were collected and statistically analyzed.
The experimental results and analysis showed that the rough dosage of hydrochloric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate and white vinegar needed to reduce 1 pH unit in the experiment were 1.2 mmol/L, 1.5 g/L and 2.4 mL /L, respectively. The effect of hydrochloric acid on reducing pH lasted for about 24~48 h, while calcium chloride and white vinegar could last for more than 72~96h. The PH value of aquaculture pond was the best degraded by Calcium Chloride dihydrate.
Secondly, Calcium Chloride in aquaculture also plays a role in improving water hardness, degradation of nitrite toxicity. Calcium chloride is generally used as pond disinfection, with water pond usage per mu per meter of water depth dosage of 12-15kg.Its disinfection efficacy is greatly affected by the content of organic matter and pH in water. The bactericidal effect is enhanced in the acidic environment, and weakened in the alkaline environment. In addition, Furtherly ,Calcium Chloride 74% flake can also be used for feeding shrimp and crabs calcium supplement or do feed to add.
Finally , is alkaline way Calcium Chloride or acid way Calcium Chloride which could be used in aquaculture ? No matter alkaline Calcium or Acid Calcium, as long as it can strictly implement China’s production standards, its use effect is the same, can be applied to the aquaculture industry.
