Basic information
Chemical Properties
Sodium Sulfite is easily weathered and oxidized to sodium sulfate in air.Loss of crystalline water at 150℃.After heat, it melts into a mixture of sodium sulfide and sodium sulfate.The density of anhydrous matter is 2.633.It oxidizes much more slowly than hydrate and has no change in dry air.Heat decomposition and the generation of sodium sulfide and sodium sulfate, and strong acid contact decomposition into the corresponding salts and release sulfur dioxide.Sodium sulfite has strong reducibility, and can reduce copper ions to cuprous ions (sulfite can form complexes with cuprous ions and stabilize), and can also reduce weak oxidants such as phosphotungstic acid.Sodium sulfite and its hydrogen salt can be used to remove peroxides of ether substances in the laboratory (add a small amount of water, stir the reaction with mild heat and divide the liquid, the ether layer is dried with quick lime, for some reactions with low requirements).It can be neutralized with hydrogen sulfide.
Part of the reaction equation:
1. The generation:
SO2+2NaOH===Na2SO3+H2O
H2SO3 + Na2CO3 = = = write Na2SO3 + CO2 + H2O
2 nahso3 = = delta = = Na2SO3 + H2O + SO2 write
2. Reducibility:
3 na2so3 hno3 + 2 + 2 = = = = 3 na2so4 no write + H2O
2Na2SO3+O2====2Na2SO4
3. The heating:
4 na2so3 = = delta = = Na2S + 3 na2so4
4. Oxidation:
Na2SO3 + 3 h2s = = = = 3 s left + Na2S + 3 h2o [1]
Laboratory preparation
The sodium carbonate solution is heated to 40℃ and saturated with sulfur dioxide, then the same amount of sodium carbonate solution is added, and the solution is crystallized under the condition of avoiding contact with air.

Production Process
1. After melting, clarifying and high-efficiency filtration, the sulfur is added to the sulfur furnace by the sulfur pump.
2. After air is compressed, dried and purified, sulfur furnace is burned and sulfur incinerated to generate SO2 gas (furnace gas).
3. The furnace gas is cooled by the waste pot to recover steam, and then enters the desulfurization reactor. The sublimation sulfur in the gas is removed, and the pure gas with 20.5% SO2 content (volume) is obtained, and then enters the absorption tower.
4, soda with a certain concentration of lye, and sulfur dioxide gas reaction to get sodium bisulfite solution.
5, sodium sulfite hydrogen sodium solution by caustic soda neutralization to get sodium sulfite solution.
6, Sodium sulfite solution into the concentrator, using double effect continuous concentration process.The water is evaporated and a suspension containing sodium sulfite crystals is obtained.
7. Put the concentrator qualified material into the centrifuge to realize solid-liquid separation. The solid (wet sodium sulfite) enters the airflow dryer, and the finished product is dried by hot air.
The mother liquor is recycled to the alkali distribution tank for recycling.
